Domain 1: Planning and Preparation 

1a: Demonstrating Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy

  • Undergraduate Research Paper 

    • This artifact ​is a culmination of all of the Biology and Science course work I completed to obtain my Biology undergraduate degree. This research paper not only represent the completion of my degree but also the understanding of material associated with said Biology degree. 

  • Organic Chemistry Exam​

    • This artifact is an exam takin in my Organic Chemistry class. This exam shows that not only can I use and comprehend content in a Biological situation but also in a Chemical one as well. This is important due to the fact that the high school biology classes are leaning more and more towards a Molecular Biology/Biochemistry course. ​

  • Curriculum Topic Study​

    • This artifact is a curriculum topic study based around biological content. In this study I identified concepts, coherency, state standards and instructional applications.

1b: Demonstrating Knowledge of Students

  • Biochemistry Unit Adapted Exam

    • This artifact is a exam I created passed on the IEP students I had in my General Biology class. This shows that I am aware of the accommodations I must make to insure that all students have the ability to pass and comprehend the material being t​aught in a state test course. 

  • The Jungle Book Movie Guide and Essay Prompt​

    • The artifact was used in a Biodiversity unit. The idea behind this is the allow students to make comparisons between real life and Hollywood's portrayal of animal life. This helps students understand the delicate balance of nature and how movies do not always portray this correctly.

  • Bacteria Project Instructions and Rubric

    • This artifact shows how I present objectives and outcomes to students. Students are made aware of what they are expected to retain from the project, lesson or activity. ​

  • Cell Project​

    • ​This artifact shows how I present objectives and outcomes to students. Students are made aware of what they are expected to retain from the project, lesson or activity.

1d: Demonstrating Knowledge of Resources

  • Microscope Quiz

    • This quiz shows that I not only use microscopes but my students also must be able to identify parts and use microscopes successfully. ​

  • Critter Cruise Donation Letter​

    • This artifact shows that I am welling and able to get the resources necessary for my classroom, if not provided by the district I am employed with. ​

    • The following artifacts are examples of lesson plans, projects, tests and labs that I have used in my classes to help actively engage my students thought the periods. ​

1f: Designing Student Assessments

  • Biology Midterm: 

    • This artifact shows the material covered the first half of the year. It also shows what a major exam looks like in a required course. ​This exam is designed off of the keystone standards.
